Time with friend and more art

We had a fun time with A and W this week. I learned a new game called Egyptian Rat Slap. I even wrote all the rules down in my notebook so I remember later!

A was such a good teacher!

I am working on a very complex art project for January’s Insectathon contest. It is a beetle that I will color pencil in. It will then be cut and mounted and then placed on a water color on canvas background.

Working on the canvas.

My dried canvas!

Oh we also got some good retro fidget spinners. Gyroscopes!

I spent several hours spinning it.

Insects, Owls and More plus 4th of July

I have been working really hard on my bug collection just like Breighton. I was so excited to find out I had to have at LEAST 10 and not just 10! I was having such a hard time fiddling it all down.

Our bug obsession rolled into Home Depot with a bug cage kids build!

My final collection easy to go to the state contest.

We spent the afternoon worth with our io moth caterpillars. We relocated them to a better hatchery and changed out the leaf litter and gave them new branches. We did let a few of the smaller ones go since we don’t need so many.

The owls are getting bigger. They have ear tufts now too!

We spent the 3rd of July watching baseball and fireworks with family. It was a fun night and a great fireworks show.

ON the 4th we used up the rest of the fireworks from a few years ago. Many were duds due to humidity but most worked. It was all stuff that stayed not he group like smoke balls, snakes and poppers.

I don’t enjoy loud noises so I wore hearing protection.

These things were cool but I like the old pull string confetti shooters better.

Goodbye Universal Studios

We took one last trip over before the passes expire. Although we said goodbye a month ago we found time for one more visit. We rode all our favorites: King Kong, Flyers, Jurassic Park and more.

We explored the Harry Potter area in depth, rode the rides and had butter bear ice cream.

We even rode the train both directions just to get the full experience.

A few spins on the Sotrm Force Accelerator and we were ready to call it quits. It was insanely hot outside and we wanted to cool off in the car!

Fun week and Art of the Brick

We had a great time at Honeymoon Island hunting for shells and walking along the north beach area. Things have changed a lot since we were last here.

We found some great shells and pieces of great shells and then visited the nature center to identify all of them. It was a lot of fun.

We made a LOT Of slime in the afternoon when it was raining.

Dad got back from DC in the evening. Mom’s lap was home to two cats and a ME!

I helped Dad make a German Chocolate cake. It came out really good. I decided i now like coconut.

Oh I also found this rock at the Pinellas County Extension Office when we were down for a 4-H Meeting this week.

We are busy raising io moth caterpillars. We got them friend a friends house. We have to feed them new plants each day.

We also visited Art of the Brick. It was an amazing collection of Lego items. I was really impressed that one person did all of these!

This one is called The Eye. It was one of my favorites. From up close it is people walking by ignoring each other. But from far away it is an eyeball!

This one was funny too!

There was even a massive dinosaur!

The artist took real painting and inserted lego objects. This one is a red umbrella made of legos.

And here is the umbrella.

The mop bucket.

Finally HUGMAN!

Can’t leave without a little statue practice.

I was in hysterics of the model of the building we were in with a model of the model. There was even a model inside the model of the model of the building we were in. I think!?

So glad we arrived early and the heat wasn’t TOO bad. The line got really long. Probably because it is summer and the event was FREE!

4-H Camp Cloverleaf

We had a fun, but crowded, ride to Camp Cloverleaf. I read most of the way down and snacked on cookies.

I enjoyed all the camp activities but really enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing a bit.

I had archery, fishing, air rifle and outdoor skills. I liked outdoor skills the best because I was an ace at lighting a fire! I also learned how to do cats’s cradle from Mrs. Kim. This is the Eiffel tower!
