Keen Sense of Smell

From Mom & Dad:

Tonight E was tucked into bed after a rough day of digging his heals in during a writing assignment, which after he finally started around 6:30pm and was done in 15 minutes. He ate dinner and had a little iPad time and was tuckered.

True to form, E emerged from the room 15 minutes later after tuck-in looking for whatever he was missing, but didn’t know what. He spied David eating a few M&Ms, gave a sad face and eventually walked away. A few minutes later we spy a arm reaching around the corner of the hallway wall. He came around the corner and said, “I can smell the M&Ms in my room and they are making me hungry.”

I told him there was no way he could smell the M&Ms at the other end of the house.

E responded, “I have a VERY keen sense of smell! How can I go to sleep when I SMELL M&Ms?”

I held back the laughter (David couldn’t speak he was near laughter explosion) and guided him back to his room. He didn’t get the M&Ms.

So, in case you need to find that funky smell, sniff out drugs or find the foxes trail in the woods you can borrow him for the day.

He has been an emotional roller coaster lately!

Breighton Free Week

Since B was at 4H camp Ocala this week I got a fun week of Mom activities. Grandma Susie spent one day with us helping paint and then we went to lunch.

IMG_1158

She joined us for paint your own pottery at Art From the Heart Cafe in Dunedin. I picked a T.Rex to paint.

IMG_1160

I had a very deliberate painting idea and it took me over an hour to paint.

IMG_1163 IMG_1164

I can’t wait to pick it up next week!

IMG_1168

Mom made B a light-switch plate cover.

IMG_1170

The next day Mom and I went bowling. I like the bumpers! I was bowling at a billion miles per hour. We finished 2 games in less than a half hour!

IMG_1174 IMG_1177

I was moving so fast Mom couldn’t get a photo of me! I have been bouncy all week.

IMG_1179

We went to the Dollar Tree to look for garden decorations and stopped at Home Goods. Home Goods had a giant mirrored elephant! I SO badly wanted it! But it was $3000!

IMG_1182

I opted to pick out a new bed for Sneaky Pie for behind Dad’s chair in the living room.

IMG_1184

We did lots of arts and crafts projects. This is a paint and build a wind chime kit. It was a lot of fun.

IMG_1186

We had a short visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It was insanely crowded.

IMG_1188

I liked the educational center because it was empty. Just me and some shells!

IMG_1191

I was hot and hungry so we headed to the beach to the Palm Pavilion to use a gift certificate we had won at baseball last year. I was cranky. I didn’t like anything on the menus. ANGRY + HUNGRY= HANGRY!

IMG_1194

Finally I decided on a grilled cheese and a HUGE cup of water (ordered just that way). I perked up as I sipped.

IMG_1196

I had fun watching the para-sailers and all the people on the beach.

IMG_1197

I even got peanut butter pie for dessert.

IMG_1205

We came home to cool off and made a paper airplane launcher (from a kit) and then folded airplanes and launched them all afternoon. I made a few other projects that were in the cabinet.

IMG_1212

We had a mini family game night. I won at Jenga!

IMG_1232

I begged to learn how to wood burn. We stopped at the craft store about bought some inexpensive wood for $1! I started on the back to get the hand of it.

IMG_1245 IMG_1247

Because every 7 year old needs the Deathly Hallows wood burned on a plaque!

IMG_1249

Mom helped me trace a dragon I picked onto the front and then I wrote the words. I did the long lines and most of the letters but Mom helped with some of the details. I was proud of myself and love my new sign. I was scared of getting burned and only dropped the woodturner once in fear. Mom snagged it up quick and we got back to work.

We pick up B later from camp! I really have missed him. I have talked non-stop the entire week.

Front Yard Animals

Our bird feeder has been extremely active lately. Overtime you look you are likely to see at least 2 birds snacking.  These are some photos of the last weeks activity.

We have a bunny that lives in the yard now too! So between Bun-Bun (as I have named him), the many squirrels, birds and now even a fruit rat we have a LOT of critters visiting.

IMG_1090

The other day Bun-Bun took on a squirrel for some corn and won. The next day we saw Bun-Bun chase away the fruit rat!

IMG_1226

5 birds, a squirrel and Bun-Bun. Busy day!

Room Remodel

I think it was time for the Winnie-the-Pooh border to go away. I got to pick out my own paint colors and oddly didn’t pick green! I picked two different blue colors. Mom deep cleaned and purged my room and started to rearrange the furniture. She did some cutting in with the new paint and then Grandma Susie came over to help with the roller part.

BEFORE (furniture already moved to new location):

IMG_1134 IMG_1135

I loved doing the test paints to see if I liked the colors. I named the key that opens the paint can. It is names MIC because it is Made in China.

IMG_1145

I did a great job painting with the brush and roller. I liked the brush better because the roller was a bit heavy.

IMG_1147

I painted spots all over the lower parts of the walls. The dark blue wall is by my window and the other three walls are the light blue.

IMG_1148 IMG_1150 IMG_1151

We got done super fast with painting and Mom and Grandma worked to put everything back together. I love my new cave with lighter covers over the bean bag chairs. I have more room for toys even though we eliminated a storage cabinet.

IMG_1152

My discover shelf is all put together and I am now able to display my growing rock and gem collection.

IMG_1156

Bs room lost the mini sofa and all the legos relocated to his room (a few are in my room). The extra cabinet from my room is now under Hedgie’s cage. Amazing how tidy and neat everything looks now.

Disney Weekend Get-Away

We had a free hotel with Marriott so we went over to Disney for the weekend. We spent Saturday at EPCOT and then after dinner we went over to Magic Kingdom for a few rides. We got up early and visited Magic Kingdom again on Sunday where I went on both Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain for the first time. Because I was so brave Mom went on the teacups with me. Bad idea on her part because I have learned how to spin spin spin!

IMG_1128 IMG_1130

Disney is also eliminating Selfie Sticks in the parks! YEAH!
