Summer if Over…

We spent our last summer day at the beach. We were determined to make it work but the weather just got sneaky. It was overcast but tolerable for the first hour or so then the skies darkened. We wrapped up and hightailed it to the car just in time for the storm to arrive. We waited it out before driving out of the park. I have never seen Honeymoon Island so empty!
Our first field trip of the year was to Kennedy Space Center. It was homeschool days and we got in for completely free. The entire family was able to enjoy this. We had a great time exploring the center and rides.  We learned a lot about space travel and all the equipment needed. We were racing against the storms but managed to get in everything we wanted to before the worst of them arrived. Back home and prepping for Hurricane Dorian’s potential landfall. We had to change over our water supply as it was all a year past date. B and I enjoyed smashing ad jumping on the bottles until the all burst. We cleaned up and recycled them at the end. Even the stores are getting in on this slow moving nightmare. Publix made all sorts of cakes and cookies. We ended up getting a cookie cake just for fun. Dorian left us. alone but that was a lot of waiting to see what would happen. I hope the rest of the hurricane season is peaceful. Oh, I was cooking in the kitchen and I burned myself, not once, but TWICE! I am okay, they didn’t hurt, other than my pride.

End of Summer Madness

We have been busy all summer with lots of fun adventures, chores and silliness. I am helping more and more. I helped Mom catch up the front garden and mulch a bit. It looks much better now. I am still working on math over the summer to get ahead. B and I keep working on out insect collections to make sure we don’t fall behind. We went to a great program on snakes at Brooker Creek Preserve. I loved holding all the snakes. I got to go to a cake decorating class for 3 days at Joanns. I loved my piped puppy dog. I also make pirate cookies. And monster cupcakes, my favorite. B had camp the next week so I got to hang with Mom all week. We went and walked around the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs. I enjoyed my flaming cheese and tiramisu.  We had some fun family DnD games. Lots of bowling. This was my go to activity when B wasn’t around. I made a bowl for my hamsters at Art From the Heart in Dunedin. More bowling! Helping make dinner. I love the feel of chicken. I am weird. Ukulele fun with Grandma Susie. Making treats. Family bowling with Dad.  We did some yard work at the Ochs property to get things tidy for the year. We have a new gate! We can access the field so much quicker now and not have to drag everything all the way around. I made an end of summer surprise marble cake. It cake out great but it was way too much food coloring! We had fun at the Tarpon Springs Replay Museum. Lots of classic games and TONS of pinball!

4-H Fun

We had out annual open house this weekend. I helped with the archery program and then it started to POUR. We had a fun time hunting for bugs in the rain with friends. We met some new 4-H youth and recruited a few to archery. Our annual awards banquet was also a blast. B got to help MC. Our Insect SPIN club won club of the year for the SPINs. We are small but mighty!
