Today we left Nova Scotia behind and drove to Prince Edward Island. We arrived at our campsite and got set up with no issues. We have full hookups this week but will move campsites tomorrow since we extended our stay here late and couldn’t get the same site all 4 nights.
We headed out to Green Gables to spend the afternoon. We watched a video about the site and then explored the visitors center. We saw Lucy Maud Montgomery’s typewriter. Many of the letters on the keys were worn off because she used it so often.
We tried on “Anne’s Hat†as part of one of our activities from our XPlorers books.
We read more about L.M. Montgomery and had to discover the year that Anne of Green Gables was published, 1908.
We explored the barn and did a scavenger hunt in or books.
We stopped at the general store and bought a Raspberry Cordial to share. It was very fizzy and refreshing. What better what to enjoy it than sitting in the shade of the green gabled house.
Inside the house we were impressed with the details form the stories. B spotted the raspberry cordial on the shelf in the pantry.
In Anne’s room, Emmerson spotted the puff sleeved dress.
There was even the slate that Anne used to crack Gilbert over the head!
We walked the gardens and checked out every flower.
We tried really hard to get a photo in front of the house without people behind us. We gave up as the place was crowded.
We walked Lover’s Lane and the Bubbling Brook trails and relived parts of the books.
We visited Lucy Maud Montgomery’s gravesite next to where her old school house sat.
We have more to explore but will have to come back another day because everything closed at 5pm.
We came back to the campground and spent the evening walking up and down Cavendish Beach looking for shells.
