Spirit of the Suwannee Campground

We took a few days and went up to Spirit of the Suwannee campground in Live Oak.  It was a wee bit chilly since we were “so far north”. Live Oak is near the Florida Georgia border. IMG_8560

The place is famous for its music festivals so they have lots of areas for bands to preform.

The first night it got so cold that the drips from the water hookup made a little ice tower on the ground.

Our home away from home.

Mom sent Dad to Publix for a few groceries and he came back with a new truck! This will help us pull the trailer so much better than the Jeep can.

We made some new friends, they live near us and are the same ages. We had a LOT of fun playing.

IMG_8581

We went to a Pickin and Grinnin show. It was a bunch of people on string instruments and a huge sing along. I really enjoyed it.

IMG_8586

We tried fishing but I think it was just too cold.

IMG_8590

Mommy took this photo… kind of looks like Dad is breaking the rule on the sign but he was honestly just fishing.

See…

IMG_8596

Mom and I went for a hike and discover a scavenger hunt!

IMG_8597

Must do scavenger hunt! IMG_8617

We had a lot of fun just relaxing and exploring at the campgrounds.

IMG_8620

We drove down to see the Suwannee River and I just wanted to sing the state song the whole time.

IMG_8622 IMG_8633 IMG_8635

Now back to that scavenger hunt. We had quite an adventure all around the HUGE sprawling park. There were a lot of clues to find.

IMG_8641

They even had a old time playground complete with hot metal slides and a super fast merry go round. I loved when Daddy made us go really fast.

IMG_8644 IMG_8651

One mission we had was to find the Dragon Door. We looked everywhere for it and finally found it! It was hidden on the back of a building where we actually started our search.

IMG_8657

The proper hosts one of the largest bat houses in Florida. At dusk we went our to a field and watched thousands of bats fly out. The estimate is around 30-40,000 bats live in the bat house!  IMG_8658 IMG_8662 IMG_8665

Saying goodbye to our new friends was hard. Hopefully we see them again!

In case I didn’t tell you, I spent all of my free downtime with a nice in a  book this trip. I am finally READING! I finished 2 books on the trip. Mommy said it finally CLICKED!

It is Just WRONG

I am still going to speech class once a week at Leila Davis Elementary School. I really like my teacher. When ever I do well she lets me plan a level of Angry Birds!

Today when we were waiting to go back I found a few puzzle pieces on the ground. I could not find the puzzle or more pieces. All the pieces were from different puzzles and only two fit together. It was driving me near mad. I like my puzzles to be complete!

Gymnastics!

I am so excited that I can go back to gymnastics now. The gym we were going to had a huge fire and just recently reopened and started up homeschool classes.

IMG_8526

I am really trying to learn how to do handstands.

IMG_8536

Every time I try my legs get a little bit higher.

IMG_8543

My coach, Mr. Grant, has me practicing them on the floor, beam and bars now. IMG_8545

I am working on my pullover on the bar as well. I almost have it. I can do a straddle on the bar now  too!

IMG_8549

After class I cam home and practiced tumbling around the house. Every bar I see I hang on. And tonight, Mom tucked me into bed and I said I couldn’t go to bed until I did all my stretches. I was doing bridges, tables, lunges and splits in my bed.

Florida State Fair

One of the things we look forward to each year is visiting the Florida State Fair for 4H. I really enjoy Cracker Country, it is a old time community complete with rope making, butter churning and candle making.

IMG_8476

This year we stopped at watched a few shows. I really enjoyed the high divers.

IMG_8487

This guy, dressed like a giant baby, dove off a platform that was 80 feet in the air.

IMG_8494

We also saw the educational alligator show. I really felt bad for the alligator but I did learn some new things about alligators.

Daddy didn’t come with us this year so I had a donut for him! Daddy, it was YUMMY!

IMG_8510

Spring chickens that just hatched. We stood and watched one hatch. It was awesome.

IMG_8515

No fear of bugs for me! I pet the Madagascar hissing cockroach.

Learning So Much Lately

I worked really hard on my exhibit for 4H and my demonstration. My topic that I picked this year was the parts of a model rocket and how they work.

IMG_8393

I helped Mom get all the motors ready for a 4H building project.

IMG_8395

B is helping me learn my next kata for karate. I am hoping I can get my blue belt soon.

IMG_8396 IMG_8398

My 4H demonstration was pretty awesome. I brought in the launch pad and rocket from home and showed people how everything worked. I was a bit silly but Mom was super proud that I got up and gave my talk without too much drama this time.

A fun surprise is when the piano tuner shows up. I love watching and listening to everything he does to make just the perfect sounds come from the piano. Levi, the piano tuner, always dazzles us with a few songs at the end.
