I am glad to be on the homeward bound path. It has been a rough vacation for me but I am hanging in there. I was happy to get back up to our “fort”. I love hunting for sticks and things and making all sorts of creations in our private little area.
I got to do MORE sparklers! This time it really was the 4th of July!
Getting more brave and going for two at one time.
I had fun on our hikes around the lake and down to the bridge across the lake. We found all sorts of creatures.
We stopped to enjoy the beach.
We ended up soaked! Oh well. We had to hike back in our dripping wet clothing. At least our shoes were dry!
Before Daddy left to head home to Florida we all went whitewater rafting. I cried the first 15-20 minutes and then gave up out of pure exhaustion. I start to have fun but didn’t like the bumps. Once I moved up and sat by Mommy in the raft I was much happier. I kept ducking down to the floor when the bigger waves came. What a blast! I was really glad that we found someplace that takes 3 year olds!
We visited Linville Caves. I stayed awake this time!
I thought it was a big booger! What do you think?
We explored the boulders at Grandfather Mountain.
I could climb through all the little cracks.
I found LOTS of special rocks. Mommy’s pockets were full all the time with my collections.
Half way up and heading for the peak. Thank goodness we could drive!
Gangs all here!
We each got a stuffed fish. I picked a rainbow trout because, you guessed it… WOOFIE LOVES RAINBOWS!
Trying to feed the stuffed fish to the bear.
Heading out on the mile high suspension bridge. Kinda scary but I am fearless!
I wanted to climb on the rocks with the big kids.
I did pretty well and then I got scared. The orange dot at the top is Cousin Ian.
We visited the nature center and saw some more bears.
I got to pet a box turtle at the Nature Center.
We pet the goats. They kept trying to eat my map!
We hatched from eggs!
That afternoon we went to the NC Ribfest. I liked the rides but not the food. I am just not a meat eater. I ate a hamburger bun and a few beans.
Grandma Jo made lots of beignets while we visited. She even made animal shaped pancakes. She made me a turtle.
We spent a day out at Mt. Pisgah exploring the waters. I didn’t like sliding rock at ALL! I did enjoy playing in the river at Coontree Recreational area.
I helped Mommy and Breighton catch a few salamanders.
The water was a bit chilly but I eventually stopped fussing and got used to it.
What a great vacation in Asheville and everywhere else. I am eager to get home to my own bed! Six weeks away was a long time for a little kid like me. But I had a great time and can’t wait to get back out and travel again.
We got to fly home on an airplane because Daddy from the minivan and camper home last week. I was beyond excited! When the plane arrived I never took my eyes off of it. The pilot waved to me and smiled! He just knew I liked airplanes!
Waiting for the plane to get cleaned and fueled up.
In my seat for takeoff. I wanted the window but Mommy told me I would like the landing better.
Eventually Breighton and I swapped seats and I got the window. It was amazing. I kept shouting we were flying about the clouds.
I watched a little show on the iPad and then it was time to land and see DADDY!
What a great time!
