The weather was just not cooperating while we were in the Carlsbad Area. We spent an entire day stuck inside the camper or recreation hall of the campground. Mom worked on laundry in the rain and we all got fresh sheets and all the clothing was washed. Finally the sun came out and we could enjoy our beautiful space. We even had a porch swing.
We visited a place called Playground of the Pecos on the Pecos River. It was a giant wooden castle that you could get lost in for hours!
We had fun playing at the campground playground and digging in the gravel.
We even visited the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. I loved the endangered Dune Sagebrush Lizard.
We hiked the educational trails and learned about local flora and fauna.
We saw a HUGE raven!
A javalina!
Two wild kids!
There was NOTHING in the area and for a while it seemed like we were the only ones at the place.
I finally got to gila monster!Â
The prairie dogs were super cute and made me giggle lots. We also saw some in the wild as we were driving around.
We even found a GIANT tumbleweed! There were lots of tumble weeds trying to race in front of the truck as we drove today.
