We started our morning with a program called Eyes on the Skies. We learned about solar telescope filters and even got to see the sun through the telescope.
We headed out in the car to explore the far expanses of PEI NHP. We stopped at Delvay to see the old hotel and look at the dunes.
Then we headed to Brackley Beach for a sand castle building class.
We arrived early and played out int he water and on the sandbar. The beach was shockingly empty.
We met Maurice and he taught us how to start by digging up a huge pile of sand and layering it with water. Then we learned to build spires and towers and carve them using rulers, shovels and a few other tools.
We worked for several hours practicing techniques we learned.
We were so busy we didn’t see that the beach got jam packed. Soon there were about 50 castles going under Maurice’s teachings and countless other people just playing and enjoying the sun.
One young man was working on making a lion. He was really good!
