Lone Elk Park

As we were leaving World Bird Sanctuary one of the staff told us about a park down the road called Lone Elk Park.

We opted to drive down and check it out. You basically drive through the park and there are semi wild buffalo and elk! They warned us in advance that we likely wouldn’t see the buffalo as they like to visit a pond over a hill. You are not allowed out of your car in the buffalo/bison area. We saw some elk at a distance but didn’t see roads near where they were. They were hanging out in a pond.

We took another turn and found these two males on a little ridge. We drove forward slowly and got really close, within 10 feet of them!

Daddy put the windows down and snapped a few photos of the elk.

They were so amazing to see so close and not in a zoo!

DSCN2430

We eventually found a path that led down to the pond but couldn’t get the car too close or we would have drove off a ridge.

There is a song that B and I love called “Baby Wapiti” by a band called Banana Slug String Band. All I wanted to do was see a baby wapiti! A wapiti is another name for elk. We finally found one cooling off in the pond with its friends and family.

World Bird Sanctuary

Today we visited the World Bird Sanctuary.

They have birds from all over the world that have been rescued due to injury or inability to release back into the wild. They had many birds of prey on exhibit. Some on little tie downs, some in cages without roofs and some with roofs.

DSCN2378

I love bald eagles!

DSCN2380

I absolutely loved seeing all the owls. I love owls so much.

DSCN2383

This is how big an eagles nest would be in the wild. You were allowed to go inside but I was in a mood and just walked over and sat on the bench. I am really tired after 8 hours at Magic House yesterday and then staying up really late playing on my iPad.

DSCN2386

I got to feed chickens. I named him “Chickie Pickie Mack a Reekie”. He was a piggy wiggy!

DSCN2392

There was a long path lined with all sorts of cages and rehab areas. We walked both sides and say many birds.

DSCN2393

This turkey was HUGE!

DSCN2395

I am calling this Hedwig, the owl from Harry Potter.

The Magic House (Part 2)

I enjoyed building really tall functioning towers at the sand table. Luckily there were no other kids around when Mommy helped me dump sand in the top, the sand went EVERYWHERE!

DSCN2330

After lunch, we played in the gardens and little river. I floated boats and ducks. I told Mommy I did not want to get wet.

DSCN2334

DSCN2335

So much for not getting wet. This is my belly bean. I am growing him with the warmth of my belly!

DSCN2346

I took all the ducks and tossed them back into the river.

DSCN2349

Then I tossed myself in the river. So much for staying dry!

DSCN2350

I dried off in the sunshine in the building block area.

DSCN2351

I made a tall tower.

DSCN2355

I even had to add steps so I could add higher layers.

DSCN2356

TADA!

DSCN2358

Knocking it down was just as fun as building!

DSCN2359

These air tubes were really fun. I kept collecting one of each color scarf and laughing hysterically as they launched into the air!

DSCN2361

Forman Emmerson!

DSCN2363

This girl kept telling me I was doing it wrong. I just watched her as she couldn’t get it to spin either! Next time she should listen to me!

DSCN2368

Major OSHA violation. I should have had on closed toed shoes!

DSCN2370

Making a paperclip magnet bridge was fun.

DSCN2372

After 8 hours in the Magic House I am EXHAUSTED. I can’t even make it up the last flight of stairs to the gift shop. Did you say GIFT SHOP! Okay, I can make it!
