Asheville Adventures

I awoke in a grumpy mood. Okay, FINE, I have been in this mood for a long while.

We took a drive through the clouds in the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We visited Cradle of Forestry and participated in a Woodsy Owl insect class.

I caught several bugs!

I enjoyed looking at all the bugs people caught.

I was even willing to talk about my insect in front of the class.

We made bug boxes at the end of class.

Entering Asheville

After a long 10 hour drive to Asheville I was well rested and ready to stay up all night!

Our first day we walked the two miles around the lake. Along the way we played in the water and looked for critters.

I caught a dragonfly!

It was sprinkling most of the walk but we still had a lot pf fun.

I love visitng Grandma and Grandpa!

Then today, we went to Hendersonville to wander around while Grandma and Grandpa went and watched a play.

Mom finally found me a new pair of shoes I liked!

We saw lots of bears painted all different designs.

We enjoyed some time at Hand’s On. Really low budget non profit kids place but we found fun within the walls.

I can really make the light light up on e bicycle!

Last Day Without Breighton

Today we went to the St. Louis Science Center. We got their early and walked around bit and found these huge dinosaurs. Daddy tried to feed me to one of them!

Triceratops… MY FAVORITE!

We toured an Egypt exhibit. I built a pyramid out of blocks.

IMG_7373

I begrudgingly rode a fake camel.

I tried to figure out what type of shape and angle made the windmill generate the most energy.

IMG_7375

I saw a really neat Tesla Coil and Faraday Cage demonstration.

IMG_7377

I worked in the science lab with Daddy. We learned how to extract DNA from wheat germ.

The white stringy stuff is the DNA!

Then we solved a crime with blood typing. I learned all about the blood types and how some clot and some do not based on the antigens.

I convinced Daddy I needed a SECOND Build a Bear of the trip! We called it an early day and headed back for some laundry, swimming and hedgehog researching!

Swimming Pool Time

It was a bit toasty today and I wanted to cool down in the frigid pool after dinner.

The pool was packed with a church group from Arkansas. That didn’t stop me from repeatedly jumping the pool.

The kids kept staring in amazement that a little boy could swim so well and wasn’t afraid to go under or jump in. Mommy overheard one of the girls say she couldn’t swim because she doesn’t own a bathing suit and has never been swimming. That mad Mommy and me sad. I couldn’t imagine a life without swimming. 🙁

I layer with the girl behind me in blue. She was the only one that could swim. She wasn’t part of the youth group but was traveling with them as her Mom was a chaperone.

Back to my frog, turtle, sea lion and penguin jumps.
