Week of being LAZY!

Dad is in DC this week and we just need a break from everything after so much hard work lately. We slept in late and stayed out late. We avoided school work.

We had fun with friends at a Thresher’s baseball game.

I got sick. So Mom and B played quietly while I slept off my headache.

I felt better for a 4H club meeting and was happy to wrap up the bookwork for the year!

I found a cool rock at the park and we painted more to hide.

We had a rat in the bird feeder! EEK! Mom is trying to get rid of the rats that are wandering over from next door. It is hard since we have baby squirrels and bunnies in the yard too! We have ordered live rat traps and will relocate catches to the woods somewhere.

More rock painting!

Forest Ecology Tournament for 4-H in Gainesville

We camped at Paynes Prairie and enjoyed walking out of the trails. My foot was hurting a little so Mom and I turned about at the 2 mile mark.

B and Dad kept going about 5 minutes more and encountered the horses! I was sad to miss them but happy to end the hike a little early.

After lunch we visited the Florida Museum and saw all the butterflies as well as the traveling Frog exhibit.

Then we hiked the trails at NATL and learned more about plants and trees. I am so ready for the contest!

After a long morning of identifying trees at the Forest Ecology contest we had lunch then then met Smokey the Bear with some cool water bottles as take home trinkets.

I got 1st place for my Panther poem in the new state poetry contest! I was so excited!

I managed to get second place in the actual contest. I only missed two questions in the entire contest. One was a hawk which I wrongly identified. The other was a total mistake and I erased one number to correct it and wrote down the totally wrong number in it’s place! OOPS! Next year I plan to work harder and get 1st place! We shall see!

Our team came in 1st place! This was such a surprise to us all!

Pinellas got lots of awards. I think we all worked really hard and learned quite a lot!

We celebrated with ice cream!

Our teams! GO PINELLAS!

Dali Homeschool Day

Every year we add art to our curriculum. This year the Dali museum hosted a Frida Kahlo exhibit as well. We enjoyed the gardens with the Dali basics and hen the new plant garden for Frida’s gardens. It was really pretty.

I love the dream or wish tree. It is neat to see all the bands added and the growing work of art as people place wishes!

The Frida Kahlo exhibit was kind of neat. I loved how her art was similar to Dali.

The flower wall was really cool! She was really into botany as well as painting.

The art lab is still my favorite part. I loved making all sorts of paper flowers, hatching eggs and more.

Need a weird mustache?

A Week in MY Life?

We have been hiking a lot and exploring trees and parks. I am really studying hard for forest ecology!

I am loving working with our new sample books full of examples of the species we have to learn!

We dressed snazzy for demonstration day makeup. Mom had a fun time taking photos before we went to the make-up day.

I did  great job and earned a blue ribbon for my invasive species talk.

We hosted the annual homeschool Easter egg hunt again. We had about 50 kids this year, a smaller group, and it was much more fun!

More hiking for B to learn bout mangroves for his part of the contest.

I am still digesting my Steve Spangler kits. I love them so much and spend hours in the kitchen doing science experiments!

We also learned about print making and shirt design. I made this shirt with the eye of Horus on it! I am slightly into mythology right now, just slightly! Okay I am ALL in!

We are working on our Master of the House performance with Mrs. Kasie. I enjoy singing but only what I want to sing!

More intense study sessions. Mom just gives me material and I sit and talk about it out loud to anyone of anything that will listen. I am so ready for the contest!

Fun with friends mixed between our chaotic days.
