Dunedin Air Potato Pick-up

Today we went to Hammock Park to help rid the park on invasive air Potatoes. We learned about the history of the air potato and when it came to America and all the problems that it is causing.

I liked finding all the air potatoes that looked like things. I also enjoyed finding all the small ones.

I thought this was a squid, Mommy said it looks like a Stormtrooper from Star Wars.

Busy Crafting Day

Yesterday we tried 5 times to see the Orion rocket go up but sadly it never did.

We were up bright and early today and were able to watch a small glowing dot moving int he sky from the park.

Honest it is in this photo. HONEST!

When we got home mom declared it an “I’M BORED” day. That means that we get to go through the arts and crafts pile and pick items out to do. These are the rainy day projects and since we haven’t had a lot of rainy days this year this was a great day to knock some out so the pile gets a bit smaller.

I started with my Resurrection Plant. I watered it and followed it for a few hours as it expanded.

Then we moved to the kitch and floated food coloring on milk and then used Q-Tips dipped in dish soap to touch the cool coloring.

Finally we put up the Christmas tree and sang and danced around the living room.

Fishing with Mr. Joe

We had a fishing class today at Sand Key pier. I caught a fish and worked really hard to get it in.

It fought really hard!

My catch was a 17.5 inch spotter sea trout! I was so excited. I did not want to keep it, even though it was a good length. I wanted it to swim away back to it’s family!

I didn’t catch anything else the entire day. Oh well, this one was huge!

Making Our Outdoor Tree

Today we put up and started decorating a nature tree for the animals outside this winter. We made pinecone ornaments painted with peanut butter and rolled in birdseed.

Mommy helped lace cranberries on string for the animals to nibble on. We also added millet and some homemade birdseed ornaments we made with gelatin and cookie cutters.

The squirrels LOVE the tree! At first they started on the ground nibbling at the goodies. Then they moved up the tree and were diving off of it! It is keeping them out of the bird feeder right now at least.
