January 30th, 2008 Two weeks…
I am growing up so fast!

January 30th, 2008 Hanging out with Breighton. He is good to me. He gives me lots of kisses. He even shares his animal toys with me, after he is done playing with them.
Mommy trying to get me to wake up. Yeah right! My hardest sleep is in the day and I toss and turn all night long. Mommy said it will get straightened out… eventually!
January 30th, 2008 So I have had a busy week being “shown off” to my family…
Here are some of the people that I have met…
Grandma Susie
Great Grandma Thelma (or Gigi)
Great Grandma Reed
Great Grandpa Reed
Grandma Jo, Mommy, Great Grandma Reed and ME!
Four generations of Reed boys! Look out world!
My view of the world…
…popeye style!
January 29th, 2008 There is a lot to update and a lot of photos to blog but my parents are taking it easy for one more day before Daddy starts back to work full time. So for today you get a neat picture of the pure torture my parents put me through. They were worried that I still wasn’t putting on the ounces so Daddy said “Let’s weight him!!”
Anyway… this was the result! (thanks Grandma Susie for documenting this moment!)
My “official” weight at the doctor yesterday was 9lbs 2oz!
I am back over my birth weight and chunking up nicely now!
Thanks Mommy for the milk!
January 23rd, 2008 Yup… I am one week old already!! How time is flying by. Mommy said I am an awesome sleeper and have a very laid back personality (knock on wood… whatever that means??)
I am enjoying my big bro and just being me…
Me chillin’ on big brothers old Baby Einstein play-mat thing…
January 21st, 2008 Today was my “1 week” (5 day) appointment with the Pediatrician. I had a good visit with Dr. Harbage. She checked me out thoroughly. I’ve got nice strong neck muscles but was otherwise nice and quiet. Although, I didn’t like the Hep. B. shot! OUCH! But, I decided it wasn’t too bad and went back to sleep.
Here are a few pictures of me recently:
With Daddy at the hospital:
With Mommy on the sofa:
Mommy saying we had enough of the photos:
I woke up from a deep nap just in time to watch Scooby Doo! I’m just like Big Bro and Daddy that way…. GIVE ME SCOOBY!!!!
My big brother checking me out while I was having a snack!
And finally, here’s a great picture taken by Grandma Susie on Sunday of Mommy and me cuddling on the sofa!
January 19th, 2008 This is from yesterday after I got home. See, I CAN open my eyes, although I prefer not to. The world is just a tad to bright for me still.
My big brother Breighton came home from Grandma and Grandpa’s house today. I really like him a lot. He keeps trying to feed me “Apple Jacks” and other food tid-bits. Mommy and Daddy keep reassuring Breighton that I love him sharing with me but I can choke VERY easily right now. He is an awesome big bro! He even knows my WHOLE name “Emmerson Carrington Reed” or “baby brother”.
Breighton is down for a nap so I opted for cuddle time with Mommy. We crashed on the sofa for a few hours of rest and relaxation.
I am a happy boy so far. I don’t open my eyes much unless Mommy wants a bit of rest. I don’t cry unless I have a burp or gas stuck in me. I am nursing very well. I keep pulling off my mittens and pulling my hat over my eyes, then I get upset. Well, I don’t have much to complain about so I have to fuss at my hat, right? I do NOT like to have my hat or mittens on while I nurse. I like it when Mommy rubs my head.
Day 3 and a happy boy!
January 18th, 2008 Just a cute picture to start your day.
With the formula supplementing my blood sugar has stayed high up around 76-85 for the last 12 hours.
Will update more later!
I should be able to go home this morning.
January 17th, 2008 So, my blood sugar took another dive. My most excellent doctor (Dr. Jordan @ East Lake Pediatrics), is concerned. He consulted with the Neonatologist in the hospital. So, she came up and checked me out. She agrees I’m sleepy, but doesn’t think there is any infection, rhesus factor issues, or things like that (which cause hypoglycemia), but she’s going to do a CBC/WBC just in case. In the interim, I’m going to have to get about 10-20 mL of formula before each “feeding” (although given I’m always eating, I’m not sure how that will work). Also, Mommy will call the nurse before every feeding and the nursing staff will do an instant blood sugar check every four hours before my feeding.Daddy was out picking up my birth announcement pictures when the results came back on my blood sugar from earlier tonight. When Mommy called and said what was going on and how there were nursing issues (the nurse admitted she was really busy and couldn’t keep up) and when last night a 31 for blood sugar was a crisis and tonight was treated by the staff kind of … well… not very seriously… Daddy made Mommy call the Hospital Admin and express patient safety concerns. He was very nice and called the Unit Nurse and things started to get much better relative to Nursing care. Daddy also called Dr. Jordan and he made several phone calls and things are shaping up nicely for care. Thanks to the Hospital Admin & Dr. Jordan, Mommy’s nurse is actually the charge nurse and we’ve a baby nurse assigned to me
The Neonatologist arrived promptly, listened to the ‘rents concerns, listened to their observations, and then did a careful exam of me. I didn’t like it, but I feel better for the medical attention. My blood test just now, 7:55 pm, is 47. Not great, but passable. Now I’m giving a try to Similac Advance. The Enfamil I didn’t like at ALL. ICK! ICK! ICK! ICK! This stuff, well not as good as Mommy’s product, is at least tolerable! Yea! I’ve downed 48mL of the stuff. That’s about 3.5g of carbs
Now, Nurse Vicky is here to draw blood for my CBC, WBC, etc. See all my peeps later!
